“Thanks to the diligent work of our employee-owners, we’re pleased to deliver the Windhaven Parkway project ahead of schedule,” Sundt Area Manager Ben Miron said. “In the process, our team had success in overcoming price escalations through value engineering and partnering, which resulted in no additional costs to the city.”
In addition to the new four-lane roadway, the team constructed a new railroad bridge for Kansas City Southern Railroad. Sundt installed approximately 2,700 feet of temporary shoofly track to construct the new bridge structure, removing the shoofly track once the bridge was complete.
The scope of work also included constructing a new roadway underpass, permanent track, retaining walls, concrete pavement, and installation of waterline utilities. The team relocated existing water mains to allow for construction of a new drainage system and built a new pump station to remove stormwater from the underpass roadway during storm events.
Sundt has been instrumental in transforming the skyline of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, from Reunion Tower in the 1970s to 7th Street Bridge. The company is currently constructing the City of Lewisville Corporate Drive Segments 2 and 3, which will provide the city with a continuous east-west thoroughfare. In addition, Sundt was recently awarded the Trinity Metro TEXRail extension, a 2.1-mile extension of Trinity Metro’s existing commuter line from downtown Fort Worth. The company has over 50 years and $3 billion of project work throughout Texas, with offices in Dallas, San Antonio, and El Paso.
