TxDOT Provides an Update on Grand Parkway

LEAGUE CITY, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announces the execution of an agreement to begin developing the Grand Parkway extension from League City to Alvin. The extension project is known as Segment B.

“TxDOT has entered into project agreements with both Galveston and Brazoria Counties for TxDOT to deliver an initial portion of SH 99 Segment B from I-45 Gulf Freeway in League City to FM 2403 in Alvin," said Danny Perez, TxDOT Spokesperson. "TxDOT and Brazoria County will assess the delivery timeframe of the remaining portion of Segment B from FM 2403 to SH 288 as a separate and future project. TxDOT will work with project stakeholders to develop the initial project so that construction can begin within the next couple of years. Once started, construction is expected to last three to four years.”

At the State of League City breakfast hosted by the League City Chamber of Commerce, League City Manager John Baumgartner expressed his pleasure and excitement that things are moving forward with the Grand Parkway.

“I’ve been with League City now for 11 years, and we as a community have worked tirelessly on the Grand Parkway with the help and assistance of our local and county leaders and with representatives from TxDOT to get this project moving forward," Baumgartner said. “I have had a couple of recent discussions and meetings with TxDOT, and they are working on land acquisition and the beginning of the design process. We have also worked closely with the League City development community around segment B to preserve the corridor so overall design and construction of the Grand Parkway can progress smoothly.”
