EXP Joins Hillsborough County Leaders at Apollo Beach Boulevard Ribbon Cutting

TAMPA, FL — EXP recently joined Hillsborough County leaders, partners, and community members to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the Apollo Beach Boulevard/I-75 Roadway Construction Project. The ceremony, taking place at Paseo Al Mar Boulevard, acknowledges a year and a half of construction, design, and planning to complete the project that will help alleviate traffic congestion on Big Bend Road.

EXP provided Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services for the project as well as extensive coordination between the Florida Department of Transportation, Hillsborough County, the Southwest Florida Water Management District, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The project now extends the existing four-lane divided highway to create an overpass on I-75 to connect US 41 to US 301. The connection adds an additional route for commuters and expects to reduce congestion.

“Today is an important day for our community. The Apollo Beach project exemplifies coordinated design, engineering and construction, [and] engineering and inspection services to benefit the SouthShore area with improved transportation options," said Vice President of Construction Services Anthony ‘Tony’ Caruso. "We’re proud to be here today with Hillsborough County leaders, USACE, fellow construction and design partners, and our team members from across the country, and many others to celebrate this significant accomplishment."

The approximately $28-million Hillsborough County construction project also improves pedestrian and bicycle safety, with Vision Zero Principles.

“EXP is proud to be in attendance today to celebrate this project," said President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Dvorak. “When we invest our expertise into these important transportation projects, we consider the long-term impacts it will have on communities, transportation networks, and the environment. Given Florida’s rapid growth, we’re confident this project will deliver a long-term solution, at a local and regional level, and we’re proud to be a part of it and celebrate its completion.”
